sales literature associated with this product. The phrase 'software product' implies all source code, except
some basic foundation material used from open source whose licenses are included in the license notice of
the product as required by the respective open source components, documentation including test plans,
test data and results. Copyright notice and licenses included in all forms of the product including Trial
version.

Product Overview
ComSNMP a short name for 'Component SNMP' and is a Programmer's Toolkit containing set of generic
light weight components out of a box for Windows 32 bit platform and Linux platform which C, C++, VB
and web programmers can use to develop NMS applications requiring SNMP V3. The components will aid
Rapid Application Development (RAD) of network management software on Windows 32 bit platforms or
enhance your existing software to support SNMP V3. Programmers can use either the COM components
(ideal for scripting languages) or link statically to the component libraries (ideal for C, C++ applications).

The components go beyond being just being RFC compliant in that programmers can focus on the NMS
application development and not worry too much about how SNMP works. Some of the method calls
address what has been done over and again in an attempt to optimize performance, for example using a
single PDU to get response for multiple SNMP Objects.

Product Sale
ComSNMP is available for sale as (non-exclusive) ownership of the source code.
ComSNMP is also available as a shrink-wrapped product (binaries, license for development and
distribution, programmer's guide). The component is available as static library and COM component (DLL).

ComSNMP can also be customized for specific requirements with additional development efforts. Based on
the type of sale or contract, specific technical support needs and customization can be met. Such turnkey
projects within an expected delivery date based on the original ComSNMP may be undertaken, if feasible,

Some of the Highlights of ComSNMP

ComSNMP is tri-lingual -- supports SNMP V1, V2c and V3.
Compatibility with prior versions SNMP V1 and V2c (this is implied in item 1, but the components are tested
for compatibility).
Interface for get, get multiple using single PDU, bulk-get, get-next, set, set multiple using single PDU, trap
(send) and trap (receive) for SNMP V3 and whatever subset is applicable to V1 and V2c. Interface
definitions are available on request. Extremely easy to use and intuitive Interface.
Choices to forward traps (Notifications) to a remote host, forwarding traps to the NMS application, ignoring
traps and soliciting trap to a custom port.
Ability to receive trap information in Binary and Record formats.
Supports USM (User Based Security Model). HMAC-MD5-96, HMAC-SHA-96 (either one at this point) and
CBC-DES (security/encryption) protocols.
User friendly interfaces to walk tables and MIBs in one method call given the dotted notation prefix for the
MIB.
Support for all Windows 32 bit platforms starting from Windows NT 4.0 onwards.
Components accessible from scripting and compiled languages.
Sample programs in VC++ and Visual Basic to demonstrate the usage of components for trilingual (V1,
V2c, V3 support).
Self-registering COM component.
Will cut your NMS development time by multifold - if you have written original SNMP V1 code or customized
open source code for your NMS application, you know what we are talking about.
ComSNMP is not MIB aware and works on Objects by their Object IDs - hence your existing NMS
applications can continue to use the existing scheme for reading MIBs. This makes ComSNMP a generic
framework which you use with existing NMS and related tools to support V3.

Extensive VC++ and VB standalone and trilingual sample client programs using ComSNMP along with
source code included with the full-feature product.

Similar Products and their Limitations

There is no COM based product with dual-interface as comprehensive as ComSNMP currently in the
market. ComSNMP supports all three popular versions of SNMP, supports USM (User Based Security
Model), HMAC-MD5-96, HMAC-SHA-96 (both are supported but only one included one at this point) and
CBC-DES (security/encryption) protocols and are tested and available on all Windows platforms starting
from Windows NT onwards. ComSNMP also provides Interface for MIB walk, traps and notification (V3) sink
implementation code to be included with the client (NMS). Besides ComSNMP toolkit comes with a
comprehensive set of sample code and binaries.

Please contact us for details. Currently there is no trial version available for Linux. ComSNMP for Linux has
identical interface as for Windows platforms. The price is $499 for site developer license and unlimited
